Okay y’all, I’ll be honest, I have the worst feet. Especially my heels. They require weekly exfoliation and nightly moisturizing to make them look and feel decent. I have tried SO many different over-the-counter creams for dry and cracked heels and this recipe by far is my favorite! I make these in large batches and give them to friends and family for gifts. They also are wonderful to use after shaving and are great for dry spots on elbows and knees!
You’ll Need: Links to everything I used are at the bottom of this post!
• A Double Boiler Attachment or a Mason Jar to melt everything in
• Deodorant Twist Tubes
• 1/2 cup Beeswax Pastilles
• 1/3 cup of Shea Butter
• 1/3 cup of Cocoa Butter (You can also use Mango Butter or more Shea! But I love the hint of cocoa in this!)
• 1/3 cup Coconut Oil
• 1 tsp Vitamin E
• 1 tsp Jojoba Oil
• Essential Oils
Let’s Get Started!
Add water to a small saucepan (you’ll want it a little less than halfway full) and turn on the heat until the water is at a low boil. Set your double boiler attachment or mason jar inside. Add all of the ingredients and turn down the heat so it’s at a very gentle boil – you don’t want any of the water to get inside the ingredients! From here, all you have to do is wait and let everything melt! It can take anywhere from 10-15 minutes. I like to stay in the kitchen to keep an eye on it, but find this a great opportunity to move around some laundry or load the dishwasher while you wait. You can also wash and dry your deodorant tubes now if you haven’t already. This recipe will make about 3 of the twist tubes!
Once everything is completely melted, turn the stove top off and remove everything from the heat. Add in your essential oils, I love Lavender and Frankincense! I add 20 drops of each to the mixture and then give it a good stir.
Next, pour the mixture into your deodorant tubes and carefully transfer them to the fridge. You lose a lot of the therapeutic properties of the essential oils when you add them to heat, so this will help everything cool off quickly!
Once the outside of the containers are cool (about 30 minutes), you can take them out of the fridge and let them finish hardening up. Once they’re dry to the touch, they’re ready to use! Lavender and Frankincense are wonderful to moisturize and to promote healthy looking skin. The cocoa butter gives a very soft chocolate scent and the balm smells SO good with the oils added in! I apply these to my heels every night before bed and my heels are soft and smooth the next morning. It doesn’t get more heavenly than that!
Need To Exfoliate First?
I love using my spa worthy sugar scrub to remove dead skin cells. It leaves my skin feeling silky smooth! If my heels are really bad, I’ll also use this electronic foot file once my feet are completely dry to remove any unwanted yuckiness. It’s awesome!

Easy Cleaning Tip
You’ll want to clean the double boiler attachment immediately after using it so they liquid does not harden. I run it under hot water with a soapy sponge and it’s much easier to clean that way!

If you substitute more shea or mango butter for the cocoa butter, would you use the same amount (i.e., up the shea butter to 2/3 cup)? If not, what would you suggest?
Hi Sheril! I would swap the Cocoa for the same amount – so using 1/3 of a cup of Mango butter or increasing the Shea to 2/3 cup!
Do you think it would make any difference if you didn’t put vitamin e oil in. I totally forgot all about adding it in.
I think it would be fine without it! I would recommend getting it in the future since it’s a natural preservative 🙂 I go through these pretty quickly, so it should be fine!
Hi there! Just made these and they are wonderful! I did sub sweet almond and calendula oils for the coconut oil. And added lavender and tea tree EO’s.
Also, I wanted a bigger batch because the recipe says it made three tubes, which are 2 oz. Mine made 20 tubes!! I should have just done the math (not my strong suit anyways!;) to see that it is a lot of oils. You may want to edit that. 😊
Thanks for posting this recipe!
I just found your Pinterest pages today…WOW! I am relatively new to Essential Oils. I have a few I ordered blends and essential oils from Melaleuca that I am having great success with. I do want to start making my own blends with their EO offerings instead of buying the blends though. Your “recipes” are amazing!!! Thanks for the time you take sharing your wealth of knowledge. I am diabetic and therefore have to be VERY careful with my feet. I am wondering if I could add the Melaleuca Tea Tree oil to this recipe? It is a Pure oil as are all of their offerings. I also tried to find your recipe for make-up wipes and to order the amber spray bottles from your market and they are both dead links. Please send me the makeup wipes recipe.
